Dino-Ed is intended to be a simple fun way to learn some interesting things about dinosaurs whilst having fun moving them around their virtual world.
Dino-Ed is currently available for Android, Windows and MacOS. The Android version includes all the same features as the desktop version but has an Augmented Reality (AR) feature to allow you to place the dinosaurs in your own environment and interact with them.
Dino-Ed provides a Graphics Quality setting accessible via the Settings button to allow you to make adjustments for your computer if you find the default or higher graphic qualities result in slow performance.
To install the Andoid version click the Google Play Store button below from your mobile device.
To install on Windows download the zip file using the Windows button below, unzip the file Dino-Ed.zip, double click on the folder Dino-Ed, double click the file Dino-Ed.exe to run.
To install on MacOS download the app file using the MacOS button below, double click the file Dino-Ed.app, if prompted regarding unknown developer click OK, open Preferences, click Security & Privacy, under Allow apps downloaded from: click Open Anyway, when prompted again regarding unknown developer click Open to run the app.
Note to MacOS users of Catalina 10.15. As of January 2020 Apple has included another security feature to protect its users, which is a good thing, but in turn is not for indie developers as it forces extra steps in order to get the apps to run.
Dino-Ed has been installed and runs OK on Mojave 10.14 but it has come to my attention that Catalina 10.15 does not allow the app to run without these extra steps from this link.
Unfortunately this is possibly a game changer for me in that I will no longer target MacOS as quite understandably I can see end users not wanting to mess about like this for a free app!
In order for developers to remove the unknown developer warning it costs a lot of money! For many developers especially those giving apps away for free this is not a viable option. Dino-Ed is perfectly safe to download and run.
